The Wild River

Driven by our responsibility as advocate of tourism and culture, Discover Philippines (DP) took the challenging six day mountainous terrain up and down in Libacao. We started our journey under the pouring rain from Barangay Rosal. We crossed the Dit-ana River to witness the spectacular Boray Falls which consists of multiple tier of free-falling water spectacle.

Together with Libacao's local officials, tourism officers, tourist guides, other media friends and indigenous residents from Manika. The misty scenes and cold temperature of these two places allured everyone with appreciation for the lush virgin forest. The ongoing roads construction serves as the passage to these undiscovered tourist sites.

The wild life of Libacao bares a variety of species like the wild flowers, wild birds and other inhabitants make this a conservation zone for the forestland of Libacao.

After a series of trek up and down the mountain, a wonderful treat of refreshing water of Maasin River and Suli creek invite the adventurous to rock climbing and swimming before reaching Sitio Taroytoy in Barangay Manika. This side of Libacao presents rich abaca plantations, rice and vegetable farms. At the moment, this barangay is eyed as the summer capital of Aklan due to its cold climate. Aside from the weather, its landscape portrays a dramatic scenic view of every mountain blending with beautiful blue sky. The mature trees occupy about 50 percent each of both open and close canopy in the total forest area.

DP's saga culminated in Barangay Dalagsaan where Aklan River originates. After the physical adventure, a five-hour rafting engagement in Aklan River makes the entire journey worth effort. This river is the largest source of clean and fresh water in Aklan. This escapade with bamboo raft exudes the fertile land and its clear water allows the eyes to see the different fishes underneath. It is breathtaking activity from Barangay Loctuga with guaranteed safety and fun. It was a long and tiring journey in Libacao. However DP has surpassed all the challenges within six days coverage without any single regret of taking it. This municipality is indeed worth another visit in the future.
